Like many Lushootseed words, it is made up of several parts:

dxʷ- indicating a direction or movement
lil- far
ap- end/bottom (This suffix started out referring to a part of the body, and then the meaning expanded to mean the end or bottom of anything.)

When you put dxʷlilap together, you get something like “far to the end.”
