Hello, my name is Jasmyne cislətix̌dxʷaɬ Diaz. I am a mother of 3 beautiful daughters, Sage, Sapphire and Skye, I am married to Deyamonta Diaz, who is a Student Advocate in the Tulalip Education Department. I love to bead and make jewelry, I love crafting and vending at events, I also love collecting Native-made art. I am an enrolled Tulalip tribal member, my father is Aaron Losik (Tulalip), my grandmother is Cherie Farris (Tulalip) and my great-grandmother is Grace Goedel (Tulalip/Yakima). I am excited to take part in revitalizing our language and teaching our future leaders, our youth, Lushootseed. I am also grateful to learn Lushootseed so that I can pass down my teachings to my daughters. My late great-grandmother, Grace Goedel, taught Lushootseed during her time, I was able to find a quote in the Seattle Times archive of her saying “If I can teach a few people a few things, then maybe someday they can carry on the language.” I hope that in teaching Lushootseed now, I am able to fulfill her wishes and that one day my daughters will be able to do the same.
