Brian Berry profile picture.Hi, I’m Brian Berry. My dad’s side of the family are from the southern end of Whidbey Island, and my mom grew up in Boise ID and Houston TX. She now lives just off of the Stillaguamish River. I have distinct connections to the Salish Sea and the Stilly River, growing up with both of them as important places in my life.

As a young child, my family moved around a fair bit, but in the 6th grade we settled in Arlington, and that’s where I graduated high school. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Visual Communication Education from Western Washington University (WWU). I got my first job in the television industry a few months before I graduated WWU, and worked both in-front and behind the camera.

I followed my dream to work in Hollywood, where I earned my Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card, and worked with some amazing people, again, both in-front of and behind the camera. About a year after marring my wife, we moved back to Arlington to start our family. Work took my focus and delayed kids for nearly 10-years, but now we have two beautiful, smart, and talented teenage girls.

I began working regularly with Tulalip Tribes over 20-years ago, as a contractor, and came onboard as a full-time employee in early 2006 in the Communications Dept. as a Video Producer/Director. I was a key player in creating, establishing, and developing Tulalip TV, and served as the Director of Video for over 10-years.

I’m an Emmy award-winning producer with over 30 national and international awards, and bring decades and decades of experience to the Lushootseed Language Dept. I’m excited to work with established methods of teaching the Lushootseed language, and I look forward to finding new innovative ways to get more and more Tribal citizens excited to learn the language.
