Hello friends, my name is Montaniel Medina my grandparents from my mom’s side, Beverly Rennie and Ernie Charles, raised me. My dad’s name is Avel Jr Medina, and I am Snohomish from the Tulalip Reservation. I have two younger brothers and an older sister as well as 3 nieces and 1 nephew. Prior to working in the Lushootseed department, I worked at Betty J Taylor’s Learning Academy which is a preschool named after my great grandma. I worked at BJTELA for about a year and then applied for the Lushootseed TA job. I didn’t grow up in the culture nor did I know a lot about Lushootseed but through working at BJTELA I heard a lot of the language and I got to experience a lot of different cultural events that were ran by the Lushootseed department just from a year of working there so I am excited to experience even more through working in the Lushootseed department and I am excited to keep learning the Lushootseed language.
